A hidden paradise
Koh Chang is an island with a split-personality, each side completely different from the other. The west has beautiful beaches and a hopping nightlife. The east is semi-deserted, and there are even still some pirate villages. On the southeastern coast there is a small paradise called Zion Beach (the name says it all). It is not easy to reach, but that's perhaps one of the reasons why it is still basically untouched.
You have to rent a scooter on the western side of the island and then take the coastal road east for a good hour and a half. At one point, you'll arrive at a fork in the road with a handwritten sign pointing to Zion Beach. From there, the road is all downhill and full of sharp bends and turns. Then at some point the road just disappears into thin air. At that point, you have to take a trail that goes to the top of a hill. From the top, Zion Beach looks like a forgotten corner of paradise.
