York Cinema
Traditional Culture Centre
York's cinema opened in 1910 and worked for a long time, becoming a tradition in Vicente Lopez. Due to economic reasons it was forced to close its doors. However, later on thanks to recycling and being conveniently supported by the municipality, the cinema reopened to the public in order to show independent cinematic films and premieres that aren't shown in more commercial cinemas. It offers plays, ballet, music, workshops, seminars and even guided tours, all at reasonable prices and some are also free. It has a hearing loop system which functions as the signal amplifier by means of a cable surrounding the perimeter of the room.
Its use allows direct transmission of sound to the earpiece of a hearing impaired person. York Cinema was declared a historical heritage; it is a dependency of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Municipality of Vicente Lopez. In the square located just opposite its entrance is a bust of the late actor Juan Carlos Altavista.
