This is an art showcase of silk threads. It was made by weavers of Deloraine, in northern Tasmania. The artwork represents the landscape and seasons of the Great Western Row northern Tasmania. The large-scale work has been created in four panels, each measuring 4 m wide and 3 m long. It was worked on by more than 300 local artists, and took 10,000 hours and 200 meters of hand-dyed silk. The artists used different techniques including embroidery, angry stitch, weaving, quilting and patchwork to create threads. The artwork of the Silk Threads tells the story of the local area. An exploration of it's history, landscape and culture.
