Butterflies
In Xcaret, the most well known eco-archaeological park in the Mexican Caribbean, we found one of the largest butterfly houses in the world with a free flight area of 3500 m2 and 15m high. It had uneven gardens, waterfalls and a tropical rainforest with more than 20 regional species of butterflies. The purpose of the park, apart from showing the butterflies in their natural environment, is to allow endangered butterflies to reproduce. With some luck you can see butterflies emerging from cocoons. It is best to visit in the morning as the butterflies are usually most active.
