Wellington Picton Ferry

Wellington Picton Ferry

Considered one of the most beautiful ship passages in the world. the Cook Strait can sometimes be very busy. The ships are huge, up to 10 stories, 1,500 passengers and hundreds of vehicles, and it takes about 3 hours from Wellington, the first half hour within its protected bay, then 1 ½ open sea, and the last hour in the spectacular estuaries of the Marlborough region. My return from the South Island to the north after two months was a spectacular day and the color of Malborough Sound were amazing.

Sublime!
The connection between the South Island and North Island, is from Picton to join the capital Wellington, starting about 3:30 crossing. The ferry crosses the "Queen Charlotte Sounds" islands cash magnificent mansions in the heart of pine forests. Located at the foot of the sea, they are safe feature private docks ... The ferry then continued his journey to the Cook Strait between the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean. Sublime!
