It's one of the most important buildings in the country, not only for its history, but also for the school that houses a monastery. It was formerly called Wat Pa Yiah (Bamboo Forest Monastery), but it was changed when the famous Emerald Buddha was discovered hidden in the attic. There is another temple of the same name in Bangkok. The Jade Buddha contains a replica of the Emerald Buddha, whose implementation was entrusted to a Chinese artist, and placed in the temple in 1991, in honour of His Royal Highness Somdej Phrasrinkharintra.
