Worth the Tour
Although you can do the walking tour, "always at your own risk" like the inscription in Thailand says. Another way to cross it is a tourist train that takes you along a few kilometers by the old route, of course through the Kwai River. Almost everyone walks but believe me, it's very safe and you can't slip where you put your feet. The fare is 20 Baths, (not even half a euro) and if you have time it is worth it because the course is spectacular across the bridge and so is the extensive vegetation that runs along the tracks. The train is open and goes very slowly so you can enjoy the view and take pictures or videos with ease.
