Vrbnik

Vrbnik is a must for all those wishing to explore the island of Krk. Personally, it was the town I liked best. Vrbnik is a small medieval town marked in Croatia´s history as the birthplace of the Glagolitic alphabet and many scripts in this alphabet can currently be found here. Vrbnik has a unique charm and despite the increasing number of visitors it receives, strong tradition and welcoming tranquility prevails. Walks through the narrow and cobbled streets are higly pleasurable. Comfortable footwear is advisable as, located just above a cliff, the streets are steep. These streets are filled with locals, particularly children earning a living despite the tourists.

It's wonderful to watch life quietly pass by from any part of Vrbnik. Another prime location is the small interconnected harbor and beach. On one side a small harbor where you will see people fishing and women strolling by and just on the other you can go for a swim in the pebbled cove. The views from the top of Vrbnik are truly breathtaking. As for the cuisine, apart from the obviously delicious fish, I recommend the white wine, typical of this region. The Vrbnik variety is the best.
