The Youngest of the Canary Islands
The island of El Hierro is the youngest of the archipelago and, as such, it is more likely to suffers seismic and volcanic phenomena, etc.
The municipalities of Frontera and El Pinar are more prone to suffering this kind of phenomena. There are approximately 500 craters in the island, making it the one with more volcano density in the entire Canary Islands. Since it is the last island that emerged in the archipelago, it is still in a primary phase, so the risk of volcanism is greater.
The places where you can observe volcanic cones are near the lighthouse of Punta Orchilla, in the municipality of El Pinar, or in Dehesa, municipality of Frontera. It is really a beautiful view, to be able to be in front of a volcanic cone.
