City with a thousand years of history

At the gates of Britain, Vitré and its medieval castle seduce any visitor with its old narrow streets and half-timbered houses. As soon as you set foot in the city, it seems that you are in the seventeenth century, thanks to the marks left by the Marquise de Sevigne. You can't leave Vitre without visiting the imposing castle. Almost miraculously perched on a cliff, Vitre's castle watches attentively over the countryside. This fort guarded the entrance to Brittany. The building is now the town hall and museum and is really worth a visit. This charming medieval town also retains their textile trade which has been present since it was founded: there's elaborate porches, half-timbered medieval houses...
