The legend

In 1414 three young men arrived dressed as pilgrims to the brotherhood. Upon receiving them, the brotherhood member who lived in the house was told that in three days they could build an image of the Virgin if given a place to do it and food. They placed it in a spot known as the shrine.

After four days of not hearing any noise, he forced down the door and found the image of the Virgin Mary. The pilgrims were nowhere: missing and the paralyzed and blind wife of the guild member cured.

The church of the patroness

The patron saint of Valencia, la Virgen de los Desamparados (the Virgin of the Forsaken), popularly known as the hunchback (Geperudeta in Valencian) is found in this church, next to the Cathedral. The exterior, quite lonely unusual for a church, gives way to an interior with different rooms with paintings of religious figures and small chapels, emphasizing the central nave, with Palomino's frescoes on the ceiling. A very nice place you can visit in no time.

When celebrating holidays in Valencia they bring the statue of virgin to the plaza, and use the cables in the plaza to hang awnings
