2 reviews of Villa Traful (Neuquén)

The nature is stunning

In Neuquén (southern Argentina) we took the road of the 7 lakes from San Martin de los Andes to Bariloche, but instead of going straight to the city we saw a fork in the road - one side lead to Villa la Angostura, the other to Traful in the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi. We took the latter and we weren't wrong. The road to Traful is surrounded by beautiful woods, it can be a bit tricky in winter with snow but if you have a 4x4 it may be fine, we did it in summer. It is a very small and beautiful town, as if from a story. Much smaller and quieter than the more popular destinations like Angostura, San Martin de los Andes and Bariloche.

The center is about 1 block and the nature is stunning. We camped on the shores of Lake Traful and there are several very good camping sites which are a much cheaper alternative to hotels/cottages. How could it be otherwise? We ate some spectacular trout in a restaurant full of burning logs in midsummer, because although it was amazing it was only 2 degrees at night. So if you go south you need to take a long coat.
