Azzonzo
A historic old house
Built in 1537 by the humanist Paolo Giovio, inspired by Florentine and Roman villas. It was commissioned by the archbishop Marco Gallio in the sixteenth century on ancient ruins. There are many statues around the place, with Tuscan columns going down to the lake. All the interior rooms are decorated with frescoes. It was most recently renovated in this sixties, and today is home to municipal offices.
