Villa Damecuta

Ho visto i resti di quest'altra delle 12 ville di Tiberio a Capri verso l'ora del tramonto, e il posto era così sereno e suggestivo che mi sono seduta tra le rovine e vi ho sostato per quasi un'ora. Di quest'edificio che si affaccia sul mare rimane ben poco - solo una costruzione principale e delle mura nei pressi di essa - ma continua a essere ben tenuto anche perché, in epoca medievale, vi venne costruita una torre di guardia, e nel XIX secolo fu ulteriormente restaurato. Si dice fosse stato abbandonato in seguito alla tremenda eruzione del Vesuvio nel 79 a. C. In ogni modo, questo sito in cui si intrecciano periodi storici diversi merita anch'esso una sosta.

I saw the remains of this other of the 12 villas of Tiberius in Capri towards the hour of sunset, and the place was so serene and picturesque that I sat among the ruins and I stopped there for almost an hour. Of this building overlooking the sea remains very little - only one main building and the walls around it - but it continues to be well maintained because, in medieval times, there was built a watchtower, and in the nineteenth century it was further restored.
