An active volcano
Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano, the cone is in the Bay of Naples. It is 1,278 m high but we didn't climb to the crater, someone had gone in the dark, to better see the fire. We contemplated when we drove from Naples to Pompeii. It's kind of Humpback Mountain with greenery in her skirt, and a top covered with ashes, which at sunset take on a beautiful purple light. I think that has had about 36 eruptions, the most famous of which covered Pompeii.
