Vanderhaeghen Castle park

Les frères Vanderhaghen, brasseurs rue Nationale, firent édifier le château et son parc en 1880. La brasserie, située à l'actuel emplacement de la résidence Hôtélia et de la salle de sport, datait de 1742. Elle ferma ses portes en 1965. Dès 1960, la ville racheta la propriété afin d'y accueillir un foyer-restaurant pour les aînés et le centre social, qui a déménagé depuis boulevard Clemenceau. C'est en 1961 que le parc fut ouvert au public. En 1968, des jeux y furent installés. Depuis, le parc a connu de nombreuses améliorations dont savent profiter les habitants de ce quartier si attachant et si vivant. Il compte parmi les 421 000 m² que le service municipal des espaces verts entretient au quotidien. Il s'ouvre par trois accès : La rue Nationale, la rue de l'Église par sa grille fleurie et la rue Montgolfier (depuis 2007).

The Vanderhaghen brothers brewers rue Nationale, did build the castle and its grounds in 1880. The brewery, located at the current location of the residence and HOTELIA gym, dating from 1742. It closed its doors in 1965. By 1960, the city bought the property to accommodate a home-restaurant there for seniors and social center, which has since moved boulevard Clemenceau. In 1961 the park was opened to the public. In 1968, games were installed. Since then, the park has undergone many improvements that know how to enjoy the residents of this neighborhood so endearing and so alive. It is among the 421,000 m² the municipal parks department maintains daily. It opens with three accesses: National street, Church Street with its ornate gate and the Montgolfier Street (since 2007).
