Beautiful site
This is a walk that takes a full day and is about 15 miles in total. You can also choose to cut it in two days and stay to sleep in a shelter or in a shelter on the way. It has a beautiful view overlooking the Cambery Valley, which is very close, the Bourget lake and on the surrounding mountains. From Chambery, it takes about 20 minutes to hike up the mountain road until you reach one of the villages that surround the valley, located in the mountains of Baumes.
For example, you can head out from the Penon or just follow the end of the road up from the Penon, and cross the forest. Once here, you can also visit a farm, the ferme of Morbié.
If you go with children, you can stop by the farm and have an educational experience where they will help to explain everything about angora goats, as they grow, as they cut the wool, the uses made of the wool, etc. There is a hostel where you can have lunch surrounded by many lakes and is ideal for swimming. The height is 500 meters, not very high up, but the distance is a bit much for children.
