"V'è un sol Monviso sulla terra" scriveva il saluzzese Silvio Pellico per la montagna perfetta, che, con i suoi 3841 metri, qui domina il territorio. Le acque cristalline dei laghi alpini danno vita al fiume più lungo d'Italia, il Po, che a Pian del re nasce e percorre i suoi primi chilometri, tra i pascoli dell'alta Valle. Lungo questo tratto del fiume, il Parco del Po Cuneese tutela l'ambiente naturale, che vanta specie endemiche delle Alpi Cozie, come la nera salamandra di Lanza. L'intera Valle è un intreccio di passato e presente, realtà e leggenda, dove natura, storia, arte ed architettura si incontrano e si confondono tra loro. Durante tutto l'anno, è la destinazione perfetta per praticare sport all'aria aperta e immergersi nella tranquillità della natura incontaminata, e, tra un trekking e una ciaspolata, è anche possibile trovare testimonianze di un passato antico e glorioso: incisioni rupestri, monasteri, abbazie, ma anche semplici cappelle campestri, note non tanto per le loro qualità artistiche ed architettoniche, quanto piuttosto per la devozione qui dimostrata in passato dalla popolazione locale, ed infine la produzione enogastronomica che vanta peculiarità genuine e caratteristiche, insieme ad una forte tradizione artigianale nel settore del legno.
