Year-round enjoyment

Excellent

Water, nature, culture, cuisine, and, above all, fun is what awaits at this green oasis in northern Extremadura. There are snowy mountains and alpine meadows which turn incredibly green in springtime, coolly refreshing in summer, and magical in autumn as the leaves change color. Hervás, Baños de Montemayor, and the Vía de la Plata are the top sights in the valley, but don’t forget to explore the small villages like Abadía and its famous convent , or La Garganta and its 19th-century wolf traps.

Ambroz Valley

The village of Hervas is the starting point for several highly recommended hiking trails. Most of them go through the Valley of the Ambroz, a green valley full of pools and waterfalls whose routes are generally low to medium difficulty. The hotels in the town will be happy to inform you of the most suitable routes and also provide route maps. I chose a very simple route but it had fantastic views along the way especially since we passed two waterfalls which were perfect for bathing and eating on their shores. This whole area has a very good microclimate with a lot of rain and warm temperatures, giving a very green landscape, full of fruit trees.
