An important wine region
The Barossa Valley is one of the most important wine regions of Australia. This is where some of the most famous Australian wines are produced, which have become tremendously popular around the world. The valley is one hour north of Adelaide, and worth a visit if you're in the area and interested in the wine scene. There are plenty of wineries offering tasting sessions, charming hotels and gourmet restaurants where you can enjoy good food. Personally, I prefer the wine regions of Spain, which have more interesting landscapes. One interesting thing to note - the name Barossa comes from a misspelling of La Barrosa, in Cadiz, Spain, where a battle was fought during the War of Spanish Independence.
