Aurea
Monastery that is the jewel of Romanesque Asturia
The historical establishment is made up of the church of S. Salvador (The Conventín), the Church of St. Mary and the cloister. It is considered a jewel of Romanesque Asturian. I went there last summer and I was impressed. It is a quiet, peaceful place. Immersed in a lovely valley, it is easy to understand what led to their constructors to choose this place. In 2009, the 3 monks who lived there were sent to different monasteries to make way for the incorporation of the friars of San Juan on the other hand, in the vicinity of the monastery is a big grave of Civil War.
