Newcastle University was founded in 1834 because of the excellence and proliferation of the area's former medical school. In fact, it's one of the most sought after schools for medical studies throughout the United Kingdom (making it one of the most difficult medical schools to get into). The complexes are really architecturally beautiful, and you can visit them freely. The main building, built in red brick with a clock tower and logo, as well as other buildings in the same form, really highlight their splendid facades and coats of arms.
