The Jewel of Cuba
It's located in the central province of Sancti Spiritus. It was formerly known as Villa of the Holy Trinity dating back to 1514 and was among one of the first seven villages founded by the Spanish in the cuban archipelago. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. The settling of this town along the Guaurabo riverbanks was a must in the conquest of new territories, where the Spanish found an aboriginal population and used them for labour. The land was fertile and it had excellent ports for the preparation of expeditions.
