Trencat Bridge

El Pont Trencat (Puente Roto) es un puente que atraviesa el río Tordera a su paso por la localidad de Sant Celoni, en la provincia de Barcelona. Es de factura románica y muy posiblemente se alce donde antes había un puente construido por los romanos. Su nombre se debe a que fue dinamitado por los franceses durante la Guerra de Independencia para frenar el avance de las tropas que les perseguían, con lo que sólo la mitad del puente permaneció en pie. Hace unos años se restauró añadiendo un gran arco de acero para completar la estructura de piedra que falta, urbanizándose las zonas aledañas para acentuar su atractivo turístico. El resultado puede no gustar a muchos, ya que se ha alterado notablemente su imagen tradicional, pero ha permitido recuperar una zona del río que estaba en estado de semi-abandono. Y, además, el puente ha recuperado la que fue su función originaria durante siglos: Permitir el paso de peatones.

La Intervención arquitectónica realizada en el Pont Trencat entre los años 2000 y 2004, dio como resultado el renacer de un lugar que permanecía como anecdótico en la historia. Es una reconstrucción que respeta el entorno y se acopla perfectamente con las ruinas existentes, respetando su historia. La intervención realizada repite las arcadas con el mismo ritmo que las realizadas en piedra, y a la vez deja al descubierto la nueva estructura que da fortaleza. Un lugar a visitar, el paseo peatonal es agradable, y en el recorrido se ven vestigios también de lo que fuera la superficie del puente que fue roto.

Este puente de piedra sobre el río Tordera, a cuyos lados puede verse gente bañándose en sus aguas, y cuyo nombre traducido significa “Puente Roto” habría sido presuntamente construido por los romanos en el año 1442, según se deduce de datos encontrados en la investigación arqueológica realizada aunque sin encontrarse rastros romanos, pero lo que sí se sabe a ciencia cierta es que el mismo fue objeto de importantes cambios en 1453 y es posible que la forma que tiene actualmente con su arco gótico provenga de esa época. En 1811 y durante las guerras napoleónicas este puente sufrió la destrucción de uno de sus dos arcos el que fue reparado en 1996 por iniciativa de los habitantes de los pueblos cercanos a los que unía este puente. Estos pueblos con Sant Celoni y Palautordera. Su restauración definitiva dio comienzo en el año 2000 y se puedo abrir al público en el año 2003.
