Trapped in the Ice

Atrapados en el hielo es una exposición que tiene lugar al centro de la Lonja de Zaragoza. Antes la Lonja era la bolsa del grano y del ganado de la ciudad, pero ahora es de la fundación Caixa Catalunya y se presentan exposiciones gratuitas, así como charlas alrededor del tema de la exposición. Esta cuenta la leyendaria expedición a la Antártida de Shacckleton, un explorador inglés que se fue al continente blanco con la meta de cruzarlo a pie. Se quedó atrapado en la banquisa y durante meses sus hombres y él tuvieron que sobrevivir esperando un hipotético rescate. No murió ni un hombre, pero lo pasaron fatal. A través de las fotos documentales de Franck Hurley, la exposición nos hace vivir de manera intensa y conmovedora las proezas del explorador y de sus 27 hombres de tripulación, que intentaron la primera cruzada del continente a pie de la historia. Alrededor de la exposición, hay charlas organizadas, sobre la Antártida y el calentamiento global, el ecosistema marino en condiciones extremas, y hasta sobre el liderazgo de personas como Shackleton, y como pudo llevar a todos sus hombres fuera de este infierno. A 160km de su meta, el barco se quedó atrapado en el hielo. La tripulación sobrevivió meses esperando que el calentamiento les hiciera derivar hasta la tierra firme. La exposición celebra el año polar internacional 2007-2008.

Trapped in the ice is an exhibition that takes place at the center of the Lonja de Zaragoza. Before the Market was the bag of grain and livestock in the city, but is now Caixa Catalunya Foundation and presents free exhibitions and lectures around the theme of the exhibition. This tells the legendary Antarctic expedition of Shacckleton, an English explorer who went to the white continent with the goal of crossing it on foot. He was caught in the ice and for months he and his men had to survive waiting a hypothetical rescue. No not one man died, but what happened fatal. Through documentary photos of Franck Hurley, exposure makes us live in an intense and poignant browser exploits and its 27 man crew, who attempted to cross the continent's first walk of the story. Around the exhibition, there are talks organized, over Antarctica and global warming, the marine ecosystem in extreme conditions, and even on the leadership of people like Shackleton, and as he could bring all his men out of this hell. A 160km from their target, the ship became trapped in ice. The crew survived months hoping that they do derive warming to the mainland. The exhibition celebrates the International Polar Year 2007-2008.
