Trakai Island Castle

Es un Castillo medieval construido íntegramente en una de las Islas que forman Trakai. Su construcción empieza sobre el siglo XIV y esta situado en una de las islas sobre el lago Galvé. Fue encargado por el Duque Gediminas muy querido y considerado a lo largo de la historia de Vilnius . A lo Largo de Vilnius ya nos encontramos algunas plazas y estatuas conmemorandole . En principio se construyo como un castillo fortaleza, aunque a lo largo de los siglos fue atacado una y otra vez, teniendo que ir reconstruyéndolo después de cada guerra. La ultima reconstrucción fue en el año 1980, aunque no terminaron hasta casi diez años después . Desde el punto de vista turístico es un rincón que después de verlo por primera vez se te quedara impreso en las retinas, es precioso, ubicado en un lugar precioso y con unas preciosas vistas. La gente del SE de Lituania lo tiene como lugar para ir a pasar el día , o como lugar de vacaciones, puesto que la playa ( del Báltico ) esta como a unos 300 km , que teniendo en cuenta su nivel adquisitivo tienen que hacer mucho desembolso para ir hasta el mar. Os recomiendo la visita , es un paraje precioso .

Trakai es una pequeña ciudad situada a 28 km al oeste de Vilna, a la que se puede llegar en tren o mejor aún, en autobús (tarda unos 40 minutos y hay 30 diarios ). Está edificada literalmente sobre el agua, ya que está rodeada de lagos. El castillo se encuentra en una isla a 2 Km de la ciudad; para evitar la caminata lo mejor es alquilar una bicicleta al llegar a Trakai. Tiene varias salas en las que se muestran distintos objetos relacionados con la historia de Trakai (monedas, sellos, manuscritos, cartografía, objetos de cerámica y restos arqueológicos, etc). También tiene una iglesia, en la que destaca el cuadro de la Santa Madre de Dios, del siglo XV, considerada por los historiadores como uno de los objetos más valiosos del patrimonio lituano. En el castillo se celebran bodas los sábados, y también festivales y otros eventos.

La mejor época de ir es en agosto porque suele ser festivo y está muy bien recreado por actores a parte de que acompaña el tiempo. Esta reconstruido pero es impresionante se puede ir en autobús desde Vilna (la capital) y se tarda entre media hora a 40 minutos sin ningún problema.
