Trajan Roman Bridge

Chaves was occupied since Roman times, and this bridge is one of few things that still remain from those times. It was built in the first century from masonry over the Támega river, linking the historic center of the city with the district of La Magdalena, where the church of the same name is located. Coming from the old town there is an area of ​​restaurants and cafes with terraces, I found a super nice place to dine or have a drink. It is entirely pedestrian, is about 150 meters long and consists of 16 arches reinforced by buttresses. Halfway on either side of the bridge, there are two stone columns carved with inscriptions referring to the Roman emperors Trajan and Vespasian.
