Charleroi Town Hall
The municipality of Charleroi is located right in the place of Roi Charles. In 1887 the city was moved from the Hall Courthouse after a monumental work by the architects Joseph André and Jules Cezar, blending classical and Art Deco. On the sides there are two allegories of Marcel Rrau: the family and the city administration. The bas-reliefs of the balconies, designed by Oscar de Clerck, represent the various matters pertaining to the city council: finance, accounting, public education, police, marriages, births and deaths. The interior is decorated with marble and brass, wood paneling and luxurious upholstery.
