Delicious Sicilian ice cream
The Touring Cafe is located in the central Via Roma, a few steps from the famous church of San Domenico and the Vucciria market. After walking by and glancing at it, I thought it was a typical expensive modern joint. But another day I passed by, and I saw that the audience was quite varied - not just young hipsters - and the interior of the room looked nice, with large columns. I think they have two more locations, I don't know if they're in Palermo or elsewhere.
Finally, I went in one afternoon to try their ice cream, which looked great. And indeed, it was delicious. It was the best I've eaten, and at a much lower price than the humbler establishments in the same street.
Recommended! At rush hour you might have some problems, but it's worth it. By the way, their signature product isn't actually ice cream but rather arancini, deep-fried balls of risotto with cheese and meat or vegetables. I tried them and found them quite heavy, but the locals enjoy them as a snack. Anyway, a good place to enjoy some delicious food!
