Las sandalias de Ulises
Torun
This is a Heritage of Unesco site since 1997 and is also known for being the birthplace of Nicolas Copernicus. Its historic center "Stare Miasto" (Old Town in Polish) is really beautiful, looking exactly the same as it did 700 years ago. Thankfully, this place has remained almost intact after the ravages of the Second World War. It is situated on the banks of the Vistula river. The city has many monuments from the Middle Ages and the twentieth century. The city is known for having preserved its medieval appearance and many buildings are in the Gothic style, all constructed using brick, including the many monumental churches, the Town Hall and even burger houses.
Strolling through the streets is a real treat, especially at night, when the architecture and scenery is illuminated in an almost ghostly glow. It is a city with lots of charm and as far as I am concerned is one of the most beautiful cities in all of Poland. It is really beautiful, and small, allowing us to see her in two days. Its center has cafes and terraces and a pleasure going out for drinks outside, especially in the summer.(we all know just how terrible the Polish winters can be!)
