Torre Saracena

Costruzione storica, edificata nel XVII secolo per ordine dello stato Pontificio, nell’ottica di difendere la costa adriatica dalle frequenti invasioni turche, la Torre Saracena è oggi teatro di iniziative di carattere folcloristico e culturale. Al suo interno è stato infatti allestito il Museo delle Conchiglie (visitabile da giugno a settembre, tutti i giorni, tranne il lunedì, dalle 20:30 alle 23, ingresso libero), con l’esposizione di reperti provenienti dai mari di tutto il mondo e realizzata grazie alla collaborazione tra il comune di Bellaria e l’Istituto di Zoologia dell’Università di Bologna. Il cortile esterno si presta, invece, a frequenti manifestazioni che celebrano la tradizione romagnola, con spettacoli musicali e degustazioni di piatti tipici, ma anche mostre fotografiche e rievocazioni storiche legate al tempo in cui Bellaria era teatro dei tentativi d’invasione da parte dei pirati.

historical building, built in the seventeenth century by order of the Papal State, nellottica to defend the Adriatic coast from the Turkish invasions, the Saracen Tower today theater of folklore and cultural initiatives. Inside was indeed set up the Shell Museum (open from June to September, every day except Monday, from 20:30 to 23, admission free), with exposure of findings from the seas all over the world and realized thanks the collaboration between the municipality of Bellaria and the Institute of Zoology dellUniversit of Bologna. The outdoor courtyard lends itself instead to frequent events that celebrate local traditions, with musical performances and tastings of typical dishes, but also photo exhibitions and historical re-enactments related to the time when it was the scene of Bellaria dinvasione attempts by pirates.
