Experiencing the Titanic's Final Port
Being a big history lover, I was extremely interested in seeing what this Titanic Experience Museum was all about. There was no way to forsee what was going to happen to this mighty vessel, so how did people know to document everything? My cousin, and friends from Ireland told us that it was a fun sight to go to but that it was fairly new to Cobh. Apparently locals did not think that it was something special or to be proud of until recently.
This beautiful and lively town see's all sorts of cruise ships coming in and out of port. It must be as if the Titanic was just another one. The museum really shows the recognition of how special Cobh is to have been honored as the final port of the Titanic. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside the museum, but it was so interesting and full of information! A guide will take you through the museum after you receive a ticket with an actual Titanic passengers name on it. At the end of the tour you find out about your person in an interactive touch screen. I don't want to spoil it, but the facts that are involved in this tour are by the millions. It is right to keep in mind though there was hardly any artifacts, pictures, or records kept from 1912. The only photos are taken by an amateur photographer priest who was meant to sail on the Titanic but was called off in Cobh by the church for a new order.
