Tineghir to Merzouga Road

After spending a night in a small hotel near the Tineghir, and going hiking in the Todra Gorge, we went back to our rental car and continued on the trip to the Erg Chebbi dunes. The landscape we had seen up to that point had seemed desolate, but now it was even more barren and spooky. The earth began to look like dirty sand, the air was filled with dust, and there was no wind - just strange eddies that climbed into the sky. Down the bumpy, holey road, we didn't pass anyone except 4x4s, always travelling in convoys of 4 or 5. From time to time, we could see people walking along the side of the road.
