Crosses the city

The Tiber is the third longest river in Italy and has a length of 405 kilometers. It begins in the Apennines and winds its way through other cities, and then crosses Rome from north to south. In Roman times it was an important means of communication and transportation. What could be more romantic?

One of the most romantic walks in Rome is along the banks of the River Tiber in the dark in the Eternal City. Gradually the lights of the buildings, bars and boats begin to illuminate water bordering Rome. Walk along its bridges and go down to the river banks as they are usually full of restaurants and bars with great atmosphere (especially in spring/summer). Yes, it is often full of tourists and may not be the most "authentic" place in Rome but there are small stalls that are very worthwhile. Cruise the river for 1€

The Tiber River crosses Rome from north to south. It was used for many centuries as a means of transportation and routinely carried goods to the markets of ancient Rome. You can cruise along the Tiber River on a boat for 1 euro with six stops between Tiber Island and the Olympic Stadium.

Walk alongside the river, especially in Autumn.
