An Austin institution

An Austin institution, Threadgill's has been around forever. Musical artists from the late Janis Joplin to greats like Willie Nelson have visited this southern home cooking restaurant. As a southerner myself, I go to enjoy familiar menus that include items my grandmother used to make when we'd visit as a child. Some of my favorite include chicken fried steak, fried okra, blackeyed peas and cornbread. Of course, the King Ranch Casserole I had on my last visit was worthy of its namesake and the margarita wasn't bad either. Eat at Threadgill's around dusk during the months of March thru August and
