Théâtre Fort-de-France
On the corner between Victor Sévère and Rue de la République, is the Theatre Aime Cesaire. The building was built in the late nineteenth century and was eventually converted into a municipal theater. It has an elegant two-storey tower topped with a belfry which houses the town clock. It occupies an entire block, enclosed by a wrought iron fence. In front of the main facade, in the outer region, there are some large ornamental figures. On the inside, two majestic symmetrical staircases give access to the upper floor and roof of the hall which is covered by a huge skylight. The inner hall has capacity for 200 spectators.
