The Wonders of Old Alfarnate...
This town has Arabic origins and its heritage is commemorated every year during the Moorish and Christian festivals in September. Walk along streets evocatively named Aljófar, Fortuna and Solin and visit the Church of Santa Ana, (XVI century) whose highlights include its roof of natural wood, supported by oak beams. The temple is also the town hall, with its ornate arches. Another place of interest is the Venta de Alfarnate on the outskirts of town. Built around 1690, it gave shelter to distinguished guests such as Alfonso XIII, and the bandits "El Tempranillo" and Luis Candelas. Today it is a restaurant-museum.
