The Warlock of the Rumsiki Crab

Como en todos los pueblos y tribus que se precien, en Rumsiki también hay un brujo y es una de las visitas más interesantes que podéis hacer en este pueblo, en los días en que no estéis de trekking. Bien es cierto que este hombre ya está acostumbrado a ser una "celebridad" y tiene un caché de 1.000 CFAs (poco más de 1 euro por persona) si queréis que os muestre cómo hace las adivinaciones además de hablar con él y preguntarle lo que queráis. Pero no es teatro, quiero decir que él es el brujo de la comunidad, y sólo hay que ver su aspecto para entenderlo. Sencillamente ha ampliado su cartera de clientes (teniendo en cuenta que hasta aquí llegan pocos turistas o viajeros). Dicho todo esto, vamos a por la segunda gran nota llamativa: el cangrejo. Se le llama "brujo del cangrejo" porque utiliza a uno de estos animalitos para realizar las adivinaciones. El cangrejo proviene de un río que hay en un valle cercano, y cada dos años aproximadamente tiene que renovarlo. Me llamó la atención ver que no es un cangrejo de río como los que aquí, si no que por su forma parece traído de una playa, pero estamos a cientos de kilómetros del mar así que... Primero prepara una tinaja llena de arena húmeda, en la que va clavando trozos de cerámica. Cada trozo representa una cosa: el universo, la Tierra, el continente del que venimos, Africa, Camerún, Extremo Norte de Camerún, Rumshiki, el punto en el que nos encontramos (el patio de la casa donde vive este señor). Dicho todo esto y algunas fórmulas mágicas, deposita al cangrejo dentro y tapa todo con la mitad de otra tinaja. Hay que esperar en silencio unos minutos, después de otra retaíla de palabras mágicas, y después levanta la tinaja y el bicho (lógicamente) trata de escapar. Justo cuando está a punto de caer al suelo el hombre lo coge y formula el resultado de la consulta. De nuevo -como hicimos al brujo de la lluvia del Monte Ziver- le preguntamos cómo nos va a ir el viaje, y de nuevo todo son parabienes. Aprovechamos para preguntarle, siendo un hombre de más de 90 años, si recordaba relatos de sus mayores sobre el tiempo en el que el hombre blanco llegó a aquellas tierras, ya que estamos hablando de principios del s. XX. Dijo que él conoció al primer blanco que llegó allí, que era inglés si no recuerdo mal... Por lo visto, fueron los alemanes los primeros en pisar Rumsiki, o eso es lo registrado al menos.
