1 review of The Ursuline Convent

An important historical building

Located at the intersection of Chartres Street and Rue des Ursulines (what could be more logical?) The Ursuline Convent is one of the main historical monuments of the city. Remarkable for its classical architecture, it was built in the 1750's at the request of Louis XV. It has played an important role in the history of the city: the first Indian school, the first Catholic school, and the first black school. It also once had a mission to convert women "of easy virtue" onto the straight and narrow path and find them a husband!
