The Tentmakers Bazaar

The area of the artisans who make the tents of the Bedouin is next to the Bab Zuweila, in Cairo. Now the they are making smaller tents and souvenirs for tourists, but before it was a very important point of business, in the medieval city of Cairo. It is one of the oldest streets in the city. There were huge tents, or suradeq, with specific reasons, very finely made and each with a different meaning. Usually geometric designs in bright colors, red, green, blue or yellow, everything is done by hand, it is awesome. However, the tradition is being lost, but some craftsmen can teach you how to do it.
