The Shipwreck Beach
This summer I went with my partner to the Ionian Islands, specifically to Zakinthos, Kefalonia and Corfu. We were looking for a Mediterranean climate and good food but mostly, incredibly clear water and little coves. And we found them. The beaches are wonderful, with fine sand, small white pebbles and amazing cliffs. Only accessible by boat, Navagio Beach has amazingly clear water and the backdrop of cliffs makes for a truly amazing sight. Interestingly, there is a wreck in the middle of the beach. In theory, it was a smuggling ship that wrecked in the 80s. Other theories say that it was the Greek government who put it there to boost tourism.
