The Sarcophagus of Emperor Khai Dinh Room

Khai Dinh fue uno de los Emperadores de la dinasta Nyguyen que reinó en Vietnam entre los años 1916 y 1925. Su tumba es (al menos para mi gusto) una de las mas espectaculares situadas al Sur de la ciudad de Hue, a la orilla del río Perfume. Este emperador no gozó de mucha popularidad entre sus súbditos, ya que el pueblo le consideraba una marioneta en manos del gobierno francés, y he de decir que su gusto por todo lo que viniese de ese País esta reflejado inclusive en su tumba, donde podremos ver en una de las salas junto al trono una variada exposición de objetos traídos de allí, como vajillas, utensilios de tocador, ropas, etc. Su tumba fué construida mezclando el cemento y mármol, siendo diferente a las otras que se encuentran en los alrededores debido a su diseño que mezcla estilos arquitectónicos europeos con los vietnamitas. Tras subir una gran escalera con pasamanos en forma de dragones esculpidos en la piedra, pasar el "patio del honor" con figuras de guerreros y mandarines, nos encontraremos con el palacio, donde en una de sus salas se guarda el sepulcro del emperador que está bajo una estatua suya hecha en bronce. Las paredes de la sala están decoradas con espejos y porcelanas, todo un espectáculo de opulencia y "refinamiento" según la época.

Khai Dinh was one of the emperors of the dynasty that reigned Nyguyen in Vietnam between 1916 and 1925. El recinto de la tumba del emperador Khai Dinh es, sin lugar a dudas, uno de los más espectaculares de todo el circuito de tumbas imperiales que podemos visitar en Hue. La sublime arquitectura, recargada de formas, columnas y figuras de sirvientes para protegerle en el más allá (como ocurre con los soldados de terracota en Xi´án, China) son especialmente curiosos. Aunque cuesta caro para el precio medio de Vietnam, la visita al mausoleo de Khai Dinh es obligada si estás por Hue.
