An impressive building

The Sage is an impressive building, it is very peculiar and you don't expect so much beauty in England's industrial north. It's beside the River Tyne, in the town of Gateshead, the twin city of Newcastle Upon Tyne. It's a stunning architectural achievement that's open every day of the year, usually more than 14 hours a day, hosting concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events. At night when it is lit up and you are on Newcastle's riverside you can see it reflection in the water, a very nice view. It's an educational center that wants to be, there are music lessons and it has been a success since it opened in 2004.

It is part of the Quays development plan for the banks of the Tyne along with the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and the Gateshead Bridge Millemium. It includes three concert halls that can accommodate up to 1,700 people and that try to maximize sound quality. There is a cafe, rooms that can be rented for weddings/conferences, record stores and books.

Music school and concert hall

The Sage Gateshead music centre is located in Gateshead in the North-east of England. More than anything it's a music school and a place where concerts are held. The Sage Gateshead is open all year round with a program of local and international music. It is situated on the banks of the River Tyne, with beautiful views of Newcastle Upon Tyne and Gateshead Quaysides. We were really impressed by its modern architecture.
