Museum festival
Obviously Frankfurt is anything but a holiday town: It is as big banks, multinationals operating there and mostly you can feel that the money is around wherever you go. Many people working in Frankfurt are spend the weekend in their hometowns or some little town around. Instead I went to Frankfurt for the weekend. It was a coincidence that on that August weekend there was Museumuferfest the festival of the Rivera of museums. Museums on both sides of the River Main, opened their doors to visitors and offered interesting exhibits. Just buy a ticket, something like 8 euros, to get into as many festivals and exhibitions you fancy.
In addition, in the gardens of the museum's there was themed music, food stalls from all over the world and a giant cocktail that helped socializing. Something very strange was that there was fireworks day, the first time I saw them, colourful fires which stand out in the sky. In the evening they return in the traditional manner. When twilight falls, the positions of the banks are filled with all kinds of music and people dance till dawn like in an outdoor nightclub. If like me you are there by chance in Frankfurt on the last weekend in August, you will enjoy this curious party.
