4 reviews of The Rector's Palace

Beautiful palace

The Rector's Palace was once the palace of senior counsel. Today this beautiful palace can be visited and it contains a museum dedicated to the city's history. If you enter you can see that the palace building is typical of the Dalmatian coast around the fifteenth century, it offers a beautiful view of the cathedral and the rest of the old city of Dubrovnik. The palace was the seat and residence of the Prince of Dubrovnik. Its history of independence lasted until 1808 when Napoleon's army issued a decree that ended with the Republic of Dubrovnik. The president was elected for only one month of service, to ensure their neutrality.
