L'édifice P était le premier instrument astronomique des zapothèques dans la citée antique de Monte Alban. En effet, durant les deux équinoxes de l'année à savoir celle de l'été et de l'hiver un phénomène d'ombre se produit avec la "cheminée" qui s'élève au derrière l'édifice P. Ces phénomènes étaient très précieux pour la calendrier zapothèque et plus tard maya. Ce lieu était sacré car il était en contact direct avec le soleil que les civilisations précolombiennes vénéraient.
P The building was the first astronomical instrument in ancient zapothèques cited Monte Alban. In fact, during the two equinoxes of the year namely summer and winter a shadow phenomenon occurs with the "chimney" that rises behind the building P. These phenomena were very valuable for Zapothèque and later Mayan calendar. This place was sacred because it was in direct contact with the sun as the pre-Columbian civilizations worshiped.
