A True Bazaar
It is difficult to choose a favourite part of Acre, but if I had to, I would choose the old city bazaar. Walking through the streets and alleys it is easy to lose track of time. A smell here, a taste there, a sound ... everything stands out: the colour of the sweets, its refreshing juices, smoking a shisha ... and yes, occasionally the stench of raw fish (which I strangely like), is due to being in a coastal city. One of the most beautiful coastal cities in Israel, it has to be said. The bazaar in the old city is where the taste stays with you for several days. It is the taste of nostalgia. One can spend hours in it, and yet to leave it feels like no time at all.
You would like to come back another day. You would like to make friends with the shawarma seller who is so talkative and friendly. I'll be back.
