Charm
If, at some point, you ever wanted to meet a blind, lonely, desperate womanizer like Al Pacino and spend their last moments together, then this is the place. Or rather, it was. The Oak Room was the Steak House at the Plaza Hotel, perhaps the most legendary of all the great New York hotels. It's an old site, with New England charm that, despite its name, always wanted to look like old Europe with traditions made from the WASP workhorse aesthetic. Finally, it was a place where guests were happy to pay 50 bucks for a burger, and enjoy it. Then they could cross the street to shop at Tiffanys emulating Audrey Hepburn, or go to central park to sit in the sun on one of the banks used by Woody Allen, or go to the Carlyle to hear Jazz while watching Gordon Gekko go up to a suite with Daryl Hanna, a movie site.
