Panoramic views of London
In 1666, a fire began at a baker's house on Pudding Lane. Three days later, the fire was finally put out but only after having destroyed a large part of the City. It consumed thousands of homes, public buildings, the city gates...even St. Paul's Cathedral. As part of the reconstruction of the city, a monument was built to commemorate the Great Fire of London and to celebrate the rebuilding. The monument stands 61 meters high and visitors can climb the 311 steps to reach the top where they have a 360° panoramic view of London. The monument dates back to the 17th century so there sin't an elevator.
