It is one of the most beautiful squares in Lyon and takes its name from the religious Jacobins (or brothers) of the Dominican Order ve were installed south of the square. Jacobins were told that the king of France sent them on a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella, Jacobus in Latin.
